This book was baby's Easter present。 She loves looking at it and we name the things together in our family's two languages。 I'm even making up stories and connections between the pictures to expose her to more language variety。Great pictures with high contrast - perfect for baby eyes。 This book was baby's Easter present。 She loves looking at it and we name the things together in our family's two languages。 I'm even making up stories and connections between the pictures to expose her to more language variety。Great pictures with high contrast - perfect for baby eyes。 。。。more

Used this book from when our daughter was born, we put it on the side of her changing mat and her playmat。 She was so intrigued with the shapes。。。 would definitely recommend。

A tummy time fav in this house!

Libro amatissimo e consigliatissimo dal web, ma mia figlia non ha apprezzato con altrettanto entusiasmo。

Interesting collection of “familiar” objects, according to the author。 It seems we must be under-exposing our daughter to elephants and butterflies。

My daughter is only one month old but the pictures hold her attention。

Black on White by Tana Hoban is a great book。 The black and white contrast is a great for newborns!

I love how these books do not have many words in them。 They are great for labeling each image and talking with the children about what part of the image makes it the name of the object on the page。 The children normally look at this book when they are not willing to engage with a more upbeat, colorful book。

Perfect for little ones! I'd say up to the age of 4 months, the black and white images really captivated my baby's attention and because it is free standing it really came in handy during some tricky nappy changes! The simple, stark drawings are brilliant for a growing mind。 I only wish that maybe the word for the object drawn had been included at the bottom so that mum or dad could point and say it aloud for another learning opportunity。 Perfect for little ones! This book is made for infants because as their eyes develop they will begin to start seeing shapes。 The black picture on white background make it better for the infants to start focusing on。 It could also be used as they are going up to identify the shapes pictured - bib, fork and spoon, butterfly, leave, elephant, bucket, glasses etc。 This could help children learn to speak and identify these pictures as they develop。

I love to stare at these images and smile。 My favorite was the buttons。 Mommy said hers was the cat。

Amanda

I think I missed the correct age window for this book。 Black and white books are ideal for infants, but my 11 month old was not interested in these high contrast pictures。

Elizabeth

I know high-contrast images are recommended for very young babies, and the accordion style of this book enables kids to engage with lots of it at once。

I got this second-hand book in French but it is still perfect to use it with my nephew as it only has words on the cover。 I love the material as babies always tear apart nice books and this one is almost indestructible。 Also the simplicity and that I can refer to the objects in English, Spanish or any other language without distractions。 Is really short so, perfect for the 2 to 4 minutes that the babies can keep focused。

This was the first black and white book that we bought for Leo as it had great reviews on Amazon。 I must admit that I was probably a little bit delusional about the impact it would have on a brand new baby when I packed it in my hospital bag but Leo did seem to casually gaze at the bold contrasting images even at such a young age。 A few weeks later, he would happily stare at the images and really focus on them (his favourite was the flower) however the appeal seems to have been lost as the month This was the first black and white book that we bought for Leo as it had great reviews on Amazon。 I must admit that I was probably a little bit delusional about the impact it would have on a brand new baby when I packed it in my hospital bag but Leo did seem to casually gaze at the bold contrasting images even at such a young age。 A few weeks later, he would happily stare at the images and really focus on them (his favourite was the flower) however the appeal seems to have been lost as the months got away from us and his attention has gone elsewhere。Still a brilliant first book for a baby with huge developmental benefits which makes it a lovely baby shower gift。 。。。more

Pretty decent but simple。

*The Angry Reader*

A small simple board book with the outline of a common shape on each page。 The outlines were black on white pages。 This book is likely to meet a child’s needs because it’s small, simple, black and white and offers objects to which a little child is likely to respond。

Interesting concept。 It's great so kids can just get an understanding of the SHAPE of the object and they can fill in the blanks。 Interesting concept。 It's great so kids can just get an understanding of the SHAPE of the object and they can fill in the blanks。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 Babe really enjoys looking at these stark black on white images。 The objects depicted are a bit random but easily recognizable。 Very much for infants but might be useful for discussing shadows and silhouettes and outlines in the future。

Ghamal's first book and he loves it so much。 Since he was 2,5 mo, this one-solid-color-images are perfect for him。 So happy to see him listening to my voice while seeing the pictures。 Surprisingly, he could stay so long that I had to repeat it again and again。 Ghamal's first book and he loves it so much。 Since he was 2,5 mo, this one-solid-color-images are perfect for him。 So happy to see him listening to my voice while seeing the pictures。 Surprisingly, he could stay so long that I had to repeat it again and again。 。。。more
